   What is The Dark WEB?

After a data breach occurs, private user information is stolen and shared on concealed web pages known as the “dark web.”

The dark web is a part of the internet that is hidden behind layers of encryption, making it difficult to track down and identify the identity of those operating on it.  While it can be used for legitimate purposes, it is most often used by cybercriminals to engage in a variety of illegal activities, such as:

  • Selling stolen data, such as login credentials
  • A marketplace to buy and sell malware and hacking tools
  • A community of cybercriminals seeking to organize and execute cyberattacks

   how it works

We examine databases containing information obtained from breaches that expose users’ personal data. By actively searching for exposed data, a dark web scan aids businesses in avoiding a breach or additional harm, informing them of the passwords or other sensitive details that need to be modified.

Given that content on the dark web remains beyond the reach of search engines, this scanning process can be the sole means by which businesses and their employees are alerted to the compromise of their information.
